Are you ready to immerse yourself in the golden age of jazz? Navigate the rocky road to the American Revolution? Finally write the short story, novel, or autobiography you've always wanted to put to paper?

In our third year of partnership with the Winter Park Lifelong Learning Foundation, The Mayflower at Winter Park is welcoming both residents and guests to an array of expert-led classes right on campus, starting on February 3. And with a wide range of classes on offer, there's something for everyone:

  • Exploring History. We can all learn lessons from the past, and this spring, students can explore our nation's history through two different lenses: "Road to the American Revolution," a retrospective in honor of the country's 250th anniversary of independence this year; and "History of Jazz," celebrating the brilliance and originality of a pioneering genre.
  • Getting Creative. From writing workshops to hands-on fiber crafts, the spring course catalog includes a range of options for the artistically inclined (or curious beginners). And if you're more interested in the "craft" than the "art" of writing, courses like "Guided Autobiography" can help you step-by-step through the process of drafting your life story.
  • Sharing Perspectives. When it comes to politics, everyone has an opinion. This spring, participants in courses like "The Executive Branch" and "Controversial Topics – Part Five" can get to know the facts about our government and explore alternative perspectives in a lively but respectful moderated discussion.
  • Preparing for Tomorrow. Planning for retirement is something we all need to think about, but it's not always easy to get started. This spring is the perfect time to refine your roadmap, and a great place to begin is by enrolling in one of the Foundation's practical, no-nonsense classes about the financial realities of saving, spending, and long-term care.

Wherever curiosity leads you, you're sure to find an option that piques your interest, and the proceeds from registration fees support Foundation's nonprofit scholarships for students at Valencia College.

Spring is the season of growth and new beginnings, but here at The Mayflower, we take pride in nurturing creativity and lifelong learning all year round. Our schedule is jam-packed with opportunities to learn, grow and thrive, from wellness challenges to wine tastings. And at our Voices of Influence luncheons and guest lectures, we welcome industry experts and leaders in the arts, public health, and government, including the likes of Opera Orlando CEO Gabriel Preisser and philanthropist Margery Pabst Steinmetz, to share their insights in person.

There's no better time to discover all the best Winter Park's premier senior living community has to offer. To learn more about The Mayflower (or to schedule a personal tour), send us a message or give us a call at 407.564.3940. We look forward to hearing from you!
