Reaching Out
According to recent research, seniors who participate in volunteer activities not only help society,
they also help themselves. Studies indicate that older adults who do volunteer work can actual
realize significant health benefits – including a lower risk of depression, fewer physical limitations
and a delay in the onset of age-related health problems.
At The Mayflower, residents help their neighbors in a variety of capacities: floor hosts, plan for all
spiritual needs and serve on various Mayflower committees. Many are also involved in the Winter Park community as pink ladies, mentors and museum docents, and continue to serve on various community boards.
